Motivated to make a career change, Mike Glenn decided to head back to college to explore the world of civil engineering. Mike heard great things from several friends about KFW and decided to join the team when given the opportunity. Mike enjoys the versatile, interesting, and fun aspects of the company.
What do you like most about civil engineering?
I enjoy all of the math involved in civil engineering and seeing how all the pieces of engineering work together.
Before working at KFW, what was the most unusual or interesting job you've ever had?
I served as a soldier in the U.S. Army from 1996-2000. My MOS was Artillery. Here I directed cannons and rockets, determining their fields of fire.
When you were younger, what was your dream job and how does that compare now?
As a child, I dreamed of following in the footsteps of my father, grandfather, and the rest of my family by serving in the US Military. While I loved defending our country, I switched career paths and chose engineering because I wanted more for myself and my family.
Do you have a favorite quote?
“Objects by themselves have no existence, and space and time exist only as part of the mind, as intuitions by which perceptions are measured and judged.” -Kant
Why did you choose civil engineering?
Civil Engineering is the closest thing to a real-life LEGO Master Builder! I have always enjoyed learning about how things come together and the art of numbers, so I knew civil engineering was the career for me.
