Lorenzo Martinez - Employee Spotlight!

Formally working for an electrical engineering company, Lorenzo was first called by Managing Partner George Weron himself, to join the KFW Engineering team. As a CAD Technician, Lorenzo has enjoyed his 7 year tenure with the company because of the people he works with. Having to spend more time with his co-workers than his family, Lorenzo finds it amazing to have such enjoyable company in the workplace.

Before working at KFW, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Before working at KFW the most interesting job I've had was working for a Spanish Record Store in Chicago. It was one of my first jobs and it was great meeting new people everyday and being up to date with current music.

As a child, what did you want to be and how does it currently compare to your career?

As a kid I wanted to be an Architect. I always liked the idea of creating projects from the ground up. I may have not been able to be one, but I am grateful that I can in some way still be part of a project. Being able to watch that grow from start to finish and knowing that I had a hand in it is a great feeling.

Is there any advice you would give your younger self and why?

I would probably tell myself not to wait to learn from your own mistakes, watch, listen and learn from others. I was a bit stubborn at times when I was young. That would have helped me a bit.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Currently I have none (thank you corona!) but i used to love going to the movies and the gym.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

If i could live anywhere I would live in Cancun. I was there a few years back and I loved it. Who doesn't love the beach!

What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?

What I am most proud of would have to be my son. That little bugger keeps me going.

What goals do you have for the next five years?

As far as goals in the next five years, it would have to be just to improve all around as a person. Living through a pandemic kinda put things in perspective.2020 had some really hard lessons.

Who inspires you?

I am very family oriented and they are the ones that push me to be the best me I can be.

Years at KFW: 7 years

Lorenzo's Coworkers at KFW said the following:

“I've worked with Lorenzo for a little over 7 years and I've constantly seen him go above and beyond to help out his team as well as other teams. He is a great teacher and works extremely hard to get the jobs to 100%. We couldn’t do it without him”
