Engineers Week 2020

KFW is infinitely appreciative of our awesome Engineers who turn our projects into reality, day after day & year after year. To celebrate and support Engineers Week 2020, KFW sponsored & attended every E-Week event, giving our staff the opportunity to network & have some fun!

Proclamation Breakfast
Our Engineers mingled with students from local high schools joining TSPE in kicking off San Antonio's Engineer Week with the official Proclamation from Mayor Nirenberg which declares Engineer's Week an official City event. Then, the students watch a film, Dream Big: Changing the Conversation About Engineering, which explains the importance of engineering in every day life. After breakfast they all head off to their respective sponsoring companies for an engineer for a day job shadow experience. KFW was excited to sponsor 8 students.

Engineer-for-a-Day Job Shadow
We always look forward to hosting local students for the Engineer-For-A-Day Program. This year we had Junior & Senior level students from a mixture of schools visit KFW's commercial, residential, survey, GIS, & public works departments. The groups were small, about 2 per Engineer, which benefitted the students because they got more concentrated attention with better opportunities to ask specific questions.

SEAoT Target Shooting Tournament
Jaime Salinas, P.E. represented KFW at the target shooting tournament, hitting the bulls eye just like he always does on his projects!

Honoring Past Presidents Luncheon
It was great to sit & chat with some of our City's highest regarded Engineers. This event honors the past Presidents of the TSPE - Bexar Chapter. We also heard a very interesting presentation from Alamo Heights ISD representatives about their robust engineering & robotics program.
SMPS Happy Hour at Little Woodrow's
What a loud & crazy annual event! KFW's employees hung out with fellow design industry members with drink tickets & raffle prizes in hand. Making connections is so important in our industry & this event always proves to be fruitful (and fun)!
