John Adkins - Employee Spotlight!
We are happy to highlight John Adkins, CAD Designer and keystone KFW employee. He graduated at the top of his class, dutifully served our country, and is known to crack jokes in the breakroom while craking open a cold CocaCola. John's extensive CAD experience and every day reliability strongly aids his team in solving head-scratcher project features and sucessfully meeting deadlines. We're all around thankful to have John at our firm.
Why did you choose Civil Engineering?
I chose it while going to school. I was working for a small firm and really enjoyed the work.
What do you like most about Civil Engineering?
I like the challenge of taking raw land and turning it into something.
Before working at KFW, what was the most unusual or interesting job you've ever had?
I was in the Army.
Do you have a favorite quote?
"What is man without the beasts? For if all the beasts were gone, man would die of a great lonliness of the spirit." - Chief Seattle
What would you tell yourself at age 13?
Let no one tell you what you are capable of. Strive towards your goals and fear no one.
What is your goal while working at KFW?
I want to see KFW become the number one Engineering firm in San Antonio.
He is one the first ones here, usually one of the last one out, and powers through lunch. He is a conveyor belt that runs on solar power or something because it’s unreal the work he puts in!! - S. Cruz
- Position: CAD Designer
- Years with KFW: 10+!
- Favorite thing about KFW: I enjoy the people. We have a unique work environment that feels more like family than co-workers. It is awesome to see how it has come together from where the original office was on Blanco Road.
When John is not at work he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, volunteering at his church, or tinkering with several projects he has going on in his garage.
What can I say about John other than he is becoming the KFW Godfather. We are very fortunate to have John on our team. His knowledge and level of experience is a great asset, not only for projects, but to help teach the younger team members the ins and outs of drafting. - C. Linney
