Danielle Salvador - Employee Spotlight!
Danielle Salvador, KFW’s first Word Processor, joined our team upon graduating from Texas A&M Corpus Christi where she majored in English and minored in Communication. Recognizing the need for a grammar expert to maintain consistent, uniform company practices for documents both internal and external, Danielle was hired to create a process tailored to KFW’s teams’ needs.
With an infectious attitude, a unique creativity, and a passionate view on the Oxford Comma, Danielle continues to be an invaluable asset to the KFW team.
Why did you choose a degree in English with a Communication minor?
I was always interested in English, which is more focused in on the psychology of individuals. I chose to minor in Communication because it gave me the more technical side. It is more real-time time pace, and I like applying theory to people’s communication. It can get you far if you are able to communicate.
What has been your most challenging project at KFW so far?
The most challenging and rewarding project has been creating new policy templates and changes to KFW’s contracts. I believe if there is a flawed system, let’s fix it. The changes to the contracts were all new material and something that affect the whole company.
What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
Things don’t just fall into your lap. You have to make things happen for yourself. I wish I would have believed in myself as much as I do now. Also, good vibes go a long way.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Working out! I worked out every day when I was in college. I am also currently in a poetry workshop at Gemini Ink. Check out Danielle’s poem below, authored during her Gemini Ink workshop.
Asked to write a persona poem (written as a character taken on by the poet to speak in first-person), Danielle’s out-of-the-box thinking is illuminated as she chooses to write from the perspective of a light bulb.
Dim until the tick
At the mercy of the switch.
Hum, live conduit
Screwed into my niche.
Dusty bulbous dome
Made to fit into my home,
But my light may roam
Outlines, I make shown.
The intricate eye,
Poor window could not survive,
Without a shed of light.
Waiting colors thrive.
Slowly, the flint sheds and sheds
A glow from my head,
Until I burn dead.
What are three things on your bucket list?
Go hiking in the middle of nowhere, go to Germany for Wurstfest, and live in Europe for a year.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I come off as tough by I’m actually a softie, and I know how to fix cars!
In addition to her work as our Word Processor, Danielle leads KFW’s volunteer initiatives, championing recent partnerships with San Antonio’s Parks & Rec Adopt-a-Park and the local Habitat for Humanity chapter. She is also a fervent supporter of other KFW pursuits in mentorship, teambuilding, and most importantly, company costume contests.
