Silvana Occhiuzzi is a Marketing Coordinator flexing educational background in art to create eye-catching KFW marketing material. Silvana's career evolution supports KFW’s culture of promoting its employees by working together and adapting to the situation at hand.

Why did you choose Marketing?

I guess you could say marketing chose me. Haha. I started as the backup receptionist, and I started helping Erin with designs with Adobe InDesign. Then, I got offered the position and everything kind of just fell into place.

What do you like most about Marketing?

I definitely like the graphic design aspect. I like creating things.

What is your goal while working at KFW?

To grow with the company. When I started, I thought this was going to be my forever-job. I knew I was going to grow with the company in whichever position I take.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Painting, reading, guitar and ukulele. I have an acoustic and electric guitar, and an acoustic and electric ukulele, also. I'm okay – pretty decent I guess. Haha. I typically paint with oil and oil paint markers. I will read anything by Haruki Murakami and have read most of his books – my favorite is "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle". I also like to read non-fiction books. I recently read Sy Montgomery’s "The Soul of an Octopus". It talks a lot about the author and her relationship with an octopus (a few of them), and how they have this almost human like level of consciousness. I eat that stuff up! And I’ve started reading the book "Art & Fear", which I think is essentially a self-help book for artists! Haha!

What would you tell yourself at age 13?

I never expected I would be in marketing, so I would say "never say never" or "don't knock it until you try it", something like that.

Now developing a "TOP SECRET" Christmas Party project, Silvana’s artistic flair will always wow the KFW family with exciting new surprises. Dedicated to going the extra mile, we are honored to have her creative talent and fresh ideas making KFW’s marketing material interesting and appealing.

Highlights!

"My last two years in college I became enamored with Cubism and this was the by-product of those last two years. It’s based off of a million pictures I took of this one bridge.I would paint one image of the bridge and then layer another on top, and another, and another, etc. From there I kept looking for ways to deconstruct it and build it back up with all of the interesting shapes I found in between. The piece eventually took a life of its own and turned into this." -Silvana
